Frequently Asked Questions

How often do Small Groups meet?

Each group decides how often they meet, however groups should get together at least twice a month.

What are my responsibilities as a Small Group member?/files/Images/pic_6older_couple2_header.jpg
Your responsibilities include studying the lessons prior to your meeting and attending as many meetings as possible. It is also your responsibility to grow into the person God desires you to be. We know you will be richly blessed.

Do I have to attend every meeting?
We know things come up that may prevent you from attending. However, GLCC encourages each member to make a commitment to attend the meetings. As you grow closer to other members, you will find it to your benefit to be there.

Will I have to lead a meeting?
No, not unless you are comfortable with doing this. However, you may eventually want to start your own small group and then the experience becomes invaluable.

Will I be asked to host a meeting?
You will not be asked to be a host unless you are ready. One of the goals of Small Groups is to become comfortable with the other members within your group. Hosting a meeting should be very non-threatening.

Will I have to pray aloud?
Your participation is up to you. As you become more comfortable with other members, praying aloud may become a natural expression for you.

Is childcare available?
Each small group makes their own arrangements about childcare. We presently /files/Big House/pic_brothers_web.jpghave one group where the member's older children care for the younger children. Talk with your group before making other childcare arrangements.

What if I don't "get along" with others within my group?
We hope this will never become a problem for you. However, if you find yourself in such a situation, we would like you to give it a "good try" before leaving the group. Please don't quit because of one bad experience. There are many small groups available and we want you to be a part of a group that meets your needs. If you have a problem, we will help you find a small group where you can be comfortable.
